The part time student spotlight winner is Amanda. There isn't enough that can be said about Amanda, she is always one of the first students to arrive every night and is always professional in both appearance and behavior. We know our night students have the additional challenge of coming to school straight from work, but Amanda always has a great attitude and rolls with the punches. When she isn't listening to true crime podcasts, she is making us laugh and setting a great example to her classmates.
Q: What made you want to attend cosmetology school?
I've always been interested in helping people, and that led me to completing a psych degree. However, I learned quickly that wasn't quite the right way for me to help. I've always loved the TLC TV show "What Not to Wear". I was particularly fascinated with the hair and makeup portion of the show - transformations are amazing to seeing most were the looks on the subjects faces when they saw themselves in the mirror afterwards. I want to be the person that puts that look on another person's face.
Q: What has been your favorite thing about attending American Beauty Academy?
Getting to do what I love. I still can't believe I'm in school for something that is so much fun! If I have a bad day, or don't want to come in, I always feel so much better just being here for 10 minutes.
Q: Name a time at school when you were most proud of yourself.
A few weeks ago I finally did a full acrylic set. They turned out soooo good and I was in love with how we painted them - I also finished in about 4 hours - WAY shorten than I thought it would take me.
Q: Of all the products at American Beauty Academy, what is your favorite and why?
Pravana Intense Therapy Leave-In! I strongly and firmly believe a good leave-in is the key to healthy, happy, heat-protected hair.
Q: What would you say to people who are thinking of attending American Beauty Academy?
Just do it! It might not seem like the right time, especially now, but it never will! So take the leap and do it, you'll be sooo happy!
