While we cannot guarantee employment after completing the cosmetology program at American Beauty Academy, there may be a variety of options available to licensed hair professionals, including:
You may also choose to become involved in work for film, theater, fashion, or print.
Students at American Beauty Academy can use professional equipment that they can continue using even after completing cosmetology school. Kits vary by campus, and they are subject to change or substitutions.
If you want to know how long cosmetology school is, the answer is that it depends on the program and schedule! At American Beauty Academy, you can complete our full-time class schedule in as little as 49 weeks, while our part-time program can be completed in as little as 86 weeks.
There are three steps you have to take to become a cosmetologist:
Tuition varies based on the program and the campus. All programs require a $50 non-refundable application fee.
You can view the full breakdown of costs in our course catalog. But, don’t let the cost of beauty school stop you from enrolling! See financial aid information and other payment plans available to students of American Beauty Academy.
Yes, financial aid is available to those who qualify. Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) to find out which financial aid you may qualify for.
Different types of financial aid for cosmetology school includes:
Pell Grant — All cosmetology school students should consider applying for the federal Pell Grant. This grant is available based on financial need, regardless of grades. In order to be eligible for a Pell Grant, you are required to enroll in a full-time or part-time course of study that can result in earning a degree or a professional certificate, like cosmetology school.
Federal or Private Loans — After completing the FAFSA®, you may find you qualify for certain subsidized or unsubsidized loans. These may have better interest rates or repayment plans than a traditional private loan. However, private loans may also be a viable option to pay for your education.
Scholarships — In addition to need-based financial aid, numerous scholarship opportunities are available to some students, based on merit. Students and applicants who demonstrate strong potential for success as cosmetologists may qualify for scholarships to help pay the cost of tuition.
For more information on financing, contact your American Beauty Academy advisor at the West Valley campus by calling (385) 377-7366, or at the Payson campus at (801) 592-2445.

be accepted.
Under some special circumstances, some parts of a cosmetology program may be offered online. But, generally, a cosmetology education requires a lot of hands-on training. Students must practice hairstyling, skin treatments, nail care, and associated tasks all under the guidance of qualified instructors. So, it is necessary to build the skills through practice in our onsite student salon.
The admission requirements for cosmetology school include the following:
Note: Students may be admitted prior to high school graduation, but only with agreement from the school district to permit the training to begin.
Before starting the application process, we first recommend coming in for a tour! Call us or fill out a form to schedule a time where we can show you the school, have you meet our team, and see if our school has the right culture fit for you!
You can choose to enroll in our cosmetology program at either our West Valley campus or Payson campus. Get in touch with our team to schedule your tour, or consider scheduling an appointment at our student salon for a new style!
